‘The Language of Flowers’ - Katrina J. Murray
Katrina Murray was born in 1963 and lived her formative years in both Brown County, a historic artist enclave in the Midwest, and the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Herron School of Art and design with a focus on painting and art history. She studied art history in Italy and lived in Germany during the mid-80s, a time marked by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and social unrest, which deeply influenced her perception of human vulnerability and resilience.
Murray's work is in the notable collections of Eskenazi Health, IU Health Neuroscience Center, Indiana Humanities, and the Central Indiana Cultural Foundation. Murray's art career has earned her accolades, including the 2020-21 Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the 2017 Award of Excellence at the Richmond Art Museum, and the 2011 International Experience Scholarship for her Italian study abroad program.
